WhatsApp Coexistence lets you connect your existing WhatsApp Business App number to OmniChatStack — without changing the number, without giving up the app, and without leaving your recent conversations behind.
WhatsApp Business App
Meta Embedded Signup links phone & WhatsApp Cloud API simultaneously
⚡ 6 Months 1:1 Text History Synced
⚡ Zero Downtime Connection
⚡ 100% Number Ownership
Shared Team Desktop
WhatsApp Coexistence is an official Meta feature that lets one WhatsApp number run in both the WhatsApp Business App and a WhatsApp Cloud API platform like OmniChatStack homepage at the same time. You keep chatting from your phone exactly as before, while your whole team also works that same number from a WhatsApp shared team inbox — with your recent history synced across both.
Before Coexistence, moving to the WhatsApp Business API meant a hard choice: keep the familiar Business App, or upgrade for automation and a team inbox and lose your number's history in the process. Coexistence removes that trade-off. The app and the API run side by side on one number, kept in sync.
Yes — with a clear boundary. When you connect, your last 6 months of individual (one-to-one) text messages sync into OmniChatStack, and future 1:1 chats keep syncing both ways. What does not sync: photos, videos, locations, and group messages. So you keep your recent conversation history and context, while some media and group content stays in the app only.
This is where most guides get vague. Here's the exact boundary, plainly:
Last 6 months of 1:1 text messages
All individual text message threads and customer conversation context from the past 180 days sync automatically.
Future 1:1 chats (both ways, ongoing)
Replies sent from phone or desktop sync live in real-time to both the WhatsApp Business App and OmniChatStack.
Your contacts / contact data
Customer names, phone numbers, and profile details populate directly into your shared CRM contact records.
Ongoing new conversations from every channel
New incoming chats from WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Webchat route instantly into the shared team workspace.
Photos and videos
Existing media attachments sent prior to connection remain stored locally in your WhatsApp Business App only.
Locations shared in chat
Historical GPS coordinates and location pins are viewable inside the phone app, not converted to API history.
Group chats and group messages
WhatsApp community and group conversations remain on your phone app; the Cloud API handles 1:1 customer threads.
View-once and disappearing messages
Ephemeral messages and ephemeral media do not sync to external API storage per Meta privacy architecture.
Practical tip we give and competitors don't:
Because media and group messages don't carry over, back up anything critical in the app before you connect. We'd rather you know that up front than discover it after.
Yes — that's the whole point of Coexistence. You are not choosing one or the other. Keep the WhatsApp Business App on your phone for personal, on-the-go replies and calls, and add OmniChatStack's shared team inbox so your whole team works the same number together, with new conversations assigned automatically so two people never answer the same customer.

It's official. Coexistence is Meta's own capability, not a third-party workaround. OmniChatStack is an official WhatsApp Business Solution Provider and WhatsApp Cloud API Tech Provider, so you connect through Meta's secure onboarding (Embedded Signup) and keep full ownership of your WhatsApp Business Account and number throughout. Nothing about your number's ownership changes.
Official Meta Embedded Signup
You authenticate directly with Meta. We never ask for or store your Meta passwords.
100% Account Ownership
Your WABA (WhatsApp Business Account) remains owned by your Meta Business Manager.
Direct Cloud API Connection
No QR code scrapers, no phone emulator risk, no chance of account bans.
Coexistence itself doesn't add a fee from us. Messages you send from the Business App stay free, as they always were. Messages sent through the API (broadcasts, automated replies) follow Meta's standard per-message pricing — billed to you by Meta directly, at Meta's rate. OmniChatStack adds zero markup on top of Meta's charges.
So there are two sides: keep replying free from the app whenever you want, and use the API side for scale — paying only Meta's own message rate, never a markup from us. See what WhatsApp Business API costs on our pricing page for the full breakdown and a worked example.

To connect via Coexistence you need the WhatsApp Business App on a supported version, a number in a supported country that has been active for at least 7 days, and a number not already tied to another API setup. If you recently disconnected the number from an API, you may need to wait before reconnecting. Here's the checklist.
WhatsApp Business App updated to a current supported version
Make sure your iOS or Android WhatsApp Business App is running the latest official release from the App Store or Google Play.
Your number is in a Meta-supported country
The phone number prefix must be registered in a region where Meta has activated WhatsApp Cloud API and Coexistence services.
The number has at least ~7 days of active use
Meta requires numbers to have an established activity history of roughly 7+ days on the WhatsApp Business App prior to API pairing.
The number isn't already connected to another API/platform
Ensure the number is not concurrently linked to another Business Solution Provider (BSP) or active standalone Cloud API WABA.
If recently disconnected from an API, allow the required wait before reconnecting
If you recently offboarded the number from a previous API provider, allow Meta’s 24–48 hour cooldown period to clear before linking.
Back up any photos, videos or group content you want to keep (these don't sync)
Because media files and group chats remain in the phone app only, perform a local or cloud chat backup before initiating setup.
Connecting takes minutes through Meta's secure Embedded Signup — no developer needed. You start the Coexistence flow in OmniChatStack, confirm your existing number, approve access in the Meta prompt, and your recent 1:1 history and contacts sync in. From there your team answers from the shared inbox while you keep using the app.
In your OmniChatStack dashboard, navigate to Channels > WhatsApp and select the Coexistence connection method to preserve your existing number.
Log into Meta with your official Facebook/Meta account. Meta’s official Embedded Signup modal will verify your phone number and link permissions securely.
OmniChatStack automatically fetches your last 180 days of individual text conversation threads and contact details into your unified workspace.
Add your front-office agents, set routing rules, and enable auto-assignment so customer queries are handled smoothly without collisions.
You are all set. Pick up your phone to message or call whenever you want, while your team collaborates from the desktop shared inbox.
